How Can tingling Sensation In The Fingers And Forearm Be Treated?

I have been experiencing tingling sensation in my fingers and forearm. It sort of feels like a mild electrical shock sort of thing. The only recent change in my life is that I am exercising at the YMCA with mostly nonaerobic activities, which should help me gain weight. A bile duct condition has caused me to lose nearly 50 pounds over the last few years.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Tingling or other abnormal sensations are usually related to abnormal function of the nerves.
This is called neuropathy. It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes.

Causes include: (1) diabetes
(2)trauma- in light of recent exercise, this is a possibility
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)side effect of medication
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)infections
(7)low vitamin b12 or folate levels
(8)thyroid disease
(9)nerve conditions such as ms

To find out if any of these are related you would need to be assessed by your doctor.
This would include a history of these sensations and any additional symptoms, examination and investigations such blood tests and x ray of the neck and shoulder

There are medications that can help with these abnormal sensations such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline, tegretol, lyrica, gabapentin.

I hope this helps
